About Little b
Hi there!
My name is Brooklyn (or b for short), and I am the owner and creator of Little b Art Studio. At Little B Art Studio, I create artwork and ceramics inspired by the hidden beauty of the natural world, showcasing science beyond what the human eye can see into pieces that are educational and bring meaningful beauty into everyday spaces.
Curious to know more, let me share with you my story on how I got here:
I created Little b Art Studio shortly after I graduated university, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in chemistry and molecular cell biology. I had big plans to study and attend medical school, but after graduating I was so burnt out and started to doubt medical school all together...
Like most graduates, I felt so lost on what I was to do with my life and career. I thought I had it all figured out, until I didn't.
So, I did what life tells you and got the 9-5 job. But, something inside of me kept telling me that this isn't what I am meant to do. After many reflection and experimentation periods, I came across my art supplies once again.
I was a huge creative, ever since I could hold a pencil I was drawing, painting, sculpting, you name it. I took tons of additional art classes and workshops growing up, but that all sadly came to a stop once I started university.
Then it clicked for me...
After searching around for ways that I could use my degree creatively, I finally discovered the wonderful world of scientific illustration. Little did I know that this discovery would be the start of something new for me and lead me to here I am today...
So I started practising and experimenting with science-based artwork, which eventually led to the creation of my signature scientific diagrams.
Then, I started posting my work on social media, not knowing where things will go. I was not taking it super serious at the time since my full-time job was my priority, and this was just a hobby at the start.
Then, one day I went viral on Instagram!
A reel showcasing my dandelion diagram went stupid viral (+3M views) and my socials were flooded with new eyes and tons of support for my work! I am so incredibly grateful for the influx of support, but nobody prepares you for who overwhelming it becomes!
But this was the sign I needed, the gut feeling I had all along was telling me that this is what I want to do with my life, create art that also educates at the same time while being aesthetically pleasing enough to display.
So I immediately started looking into building a website, bought a printer, and got to work on opening my online shop, which officially launched July 11th, 2024!
I am so incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported me since the beginning, or has found me at some point along the way. I have been continuously working on new things, new products, all showcasing the wonders of our natural world through different creative mediums.
Thank you for reading my story on how I got here, I hope you learn something new today :)
